Islamorada’s Comprehensive Plan Update envisions a future that preserves the Village’s natural beauty and unique character while supporting sustainable growth. This plan aims to balance environmental stewardship, community connectivity, and economic resilience to preserve Islamorada’s charm as both a beloved home and a sought-after destination for generations to come.
Adopted in 2001, it has been several years since Islamorada’s comprehensive plan was last updated, making this update a critical step in chartering the Village’s path forward. Comprehensive plans are required for every community in Florida and serve as a blueprint for managing growth, protecting natural resources, and preserving community charm.
The Plan update is expected to take about one year, with community members,, stakeholders, and experts collaborating to create a plan that reflects the community's priorities and vision for the future.
Together, we are building a plan that not only meets statutory requirements but also enhances the quality of life in Islamorada for years to come.
